Cannot connect to wireless network via wifi dongle

Postby edfitzgerald » 08 Feb 2015, 12:25

Hello,

I have a Raspberry Pi B+ with this wifi dongle:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00E ... ge_o01_s00

I have got Runeaudio up and running nicely via ethernet connection and Rune detects my wifi dongle fine. The network wlan0 is available on the Network tab and Rune can find all of the nearby wifi networks so I know that the dongle is functioning OK.

I cannot however connect to my wifi network. I input my key and try to connect but no matter what I do, the wlan0 network remains unconnected. I have tried creating a wifi profile for my network but this doesn't seem to get saved either.

Anyone else have this issue?

I have exactly the same problem.
Wifi dongle works fine with Volumio installed!
Runeaudio "finds" my network but does not accept the password.

Hello,

after executing the above listed commands, there are still some problems with my Edimax WiFi-Dongle EW-7811 UN, which tries to connect to my Fritzbox Router. At first glance, the connection to router works fine as you can see here:

But after clicking on that name, I only see this result, so I am unable to save the password for the WPA2 encrypted connection.

I think the special symbol ! in my SSID could be a problem. It would be great to solve this problem, because this is a very common name for Fritzbox routers. I can't change it because of other dependencies.

Thanks ACT. Even the spanning wheel is disappeared when disable the volume in the settings.

By the way I love RuneAudio. Thanks for the product too. I work with a very highend audio system. E.g I've got a audionote DAC. RuneAudio gives a great sound on my system.

I need some help.

I had the same problem as the original OP, my Wifi USB dongle wouldn't be activated on boot.

I've followed the steps outline on this thread:
- delete /etc/netctl/wlan0
- netctl disable wlan0
- upgrade /var/www/ to RuneUI dev's latest (today's)
- reboot a couple times
- now, both eth0 and wlan0 don't get connected (even if they are set on static)

I've tried:
- delete /etc/netctl/eth0 (and any other interface file)
- reconfigure the wifi parameters in the UI

To note:
- netctl restart eth0 does bring up my eth0. Upon reboot, all is lost again, and eth0 startup is makred as Fail in the boot sequence

I need to get this working. Is there any way to completely disable RuneAudio's way of handling and starting networking (which doesn't work) and use ArchLInux's instead? (please excuse me if my understanding of the way things are done is improper)

Thanks!
