Hi to anyone who can help ...
I’m successfully running an RPi2 rig with iqAudio DAC and Amp streaming hi-res flac’s wirelessly from my NAS.
The wireless signal in the rig location is not good so I’ve tried several wi-fi adaptors. Best results are with a TPlink TP-WN822N which has 2 short antennae (iwconfig shows ... Bit Rate=144.4 Mb/s, Link Quality=97/100, Signal Level=73/100 & Noise=0/100).
I’ve followed advice from various forums to ensure that Power Management is set to off on the wi-fi adaptor. (lsusb and lsmod show the ‘chip’ to be an RTL8192CU – as used in the popular EdiMax adaptor).
I’ve set up a cron job that pings my router every 15 mins. If the ping fails then an empty directory is created and the reboot command issued. On the reboot, another cron job checks for the empty directory and emails me if it is found. This works as planned – happening every 4 or 5 days.
However, I have a different problem with my rig at least once per day ...
The rig is not responsive – wi-fi adaptor light on but not flashing as it normally does, unable to browse to the rig or connect via puTTY – so I have to reboot by just pulling the power cord.
Just once I’ve had a different problem ... the wi-fi adaptor light was flashing normally, browsing gave 404 not found (nginx/1.4.7) and puTTy allowed me to login but as soon as I entered the password ... network error: software caused connection to abort ... very strange?
I’ve attached a current debug report.
Clearly these problems are not ‘life threatening’ but are inconvenient because of the location of my rig. However, clearly, they are not the intended behaviour.
Thx for any help or comments
