First Hi-Fi set up. Question!

Always wanted an audiophile set up and finally took the plunge. Technics SL-1200MK7’s. Yamaha A-S701 receiver. Things on the way: Budget speakers (Polk Audio T15). Ortofon Red 2M cartridge. Getit 14 Gauge Wires with banana plugs.

Im going to stick with these items once my wallet starts to forgive me. But.. is there any small enhancements I can do to better my listening experience. Did I get the right wires. What speakers should I aim for down the road (less than $1000 for a pair if possible)?
