44.1 flac files will not play but 96kHz will ???

Postby t_gorham_iii » 27 Sep 2015, 19:11

I'm new to Rune and have it running on a RPi 2. I'm attempting to use a Dragonfly v1 with limited success. I was having no success jumping through the alsamixer hoops but noticed that when I tried to play a file after a reboot the Dragonfly logo would turn from pink to green indicating it was playing a 44.1 file but with no sound. I decided I'd download a 96 flac file and see if I could make it turn back to pink indicating it was playing a 96kHz. It both turned pink and more surprisingly played music. I can go into alsamixer, mute and unmute and the HD file mutes and unmutes.

If I play a 44.1 rip i get silence. Going into alsamixer muting and unmuting makes no difference...

Thoughts?

This is what I see when I run your cat command. Card 0 is the onboard sound card that is not active

[root@runeaudio ~]# cat /proc/asound/card0/pcm0p/sub0/hw_params
closed

Thank you again for taking a look...TG

When I change the command to point to the Dragonfly, card1, and look at the results while playing files with different rates I do so that the rates change. Just as I see the Dragonfly changes color to match the rate. 96 plays music and 44.1 does not.

I see this when I'm playing a 96KHz file

[root@runeaudio ~]# cat /proc/asound/card1/pcm0p/sub0/hw_params
access: RW_INTERLEAVED
format: S24_3LE
subformat: STD
channels: 2
rate: 96000 (96000/1)
period_size: 12000
buffer_size: 48000

And this when I'm playing a 44.1 file

[root@runeaudio ~]# cat /proc/asound/card1/pcm0p/sub0/hw_params
access: RW_INTERLEAVED
format: S24_3LE
subformat: STD
channels: 2
rate: 44100 (44100/1)
period_size: 5513
buffer_size: 22050
