Add a mount - Windows share problem

Postby Discovery » 06 Jun 2015, 17:11

Hi,
I'm trying to access music on my Windows 8.1 PC across my LAN.

I am getting the error:
mount error(115): Operation now in progress Refer to the mount.cifs(8) manual page (e.g. man mount.cifs)

The files on the homegroup can be seen by another PC on the homegroup so I'm satisfied that the homegroup itself is working.

I have tried entering a specific IP address instead of the homegroup name but this gave a different error:-
Retrying with upper case share name mount error(6): No such device or address Refer to the mount.cifs(8) manual page (e.g. man mount.cifs)

I have tried to enter an Administrator/Guest ID and password, using the Windows Homegroup password but that makes no difference.

Runeaudio is working very well if I have my music on a memory stick in the player but it would be great to get this working so I don't need to use memory sticks any more.

Any assistance gratefully appreciated.

Thanks,

Trevor

Hi Trevor,

please first read this (the first part "Creating the Share on Windows")

Then make your settings in Rune Audio:

- Source name = what you like (for example MyMusic)
- Fileshare protocol = SMB/CIFS
- IP address = your server ip (like 192.168.0.106) without leading or trailing slashes.
- Remote directory = the share name (case sensitive)
- Guest access = depends on your settings

Hi Frank,

Thanks for the reply.

Please see my latest attempt below - I am now getting a different error when I use the explicit IP address (see below). I've also included an image of my Windows share details.

Hi,

try "Music" as remote directory.

Finally cracked it!

Users/Trevor/Music was required for the directory. :-)

Thanks Frank

p.s. I really appreciate all you and the team have done in creating RuneAudio - and supporting it. I'm putting it from the Raspberry Pi 2 into an Audiolab M-DAC, from there into a Quad 909 power amp and then out to Quad 989 electrostatic speakers. It sounds very good. I'll make a donation to your project tomorrow.
