Add music to SD card?

Postby mspohr » 09 Mar 2015, 19:28

New to Rune and it looks great so far. I got it running easily on RPi.
I would like to add my music to the SD card which is running Rune but not sure how to do this...
I can login ssh and would like to copy music to the card but not sure where to put it... or there may be some other way to add local music to the SD card?

Hi mspohr,

welcome to the forum.

The easiest way is to store your music in /mnt/MPD/LocalStorage/.
An other solution is discussed .

Thanks very much for this information.
I found I needed to expand the file system since Rune doesn't do this automatically. I used gparted to expand the 2 gb image partition to the entire storage capacity then scp to copy my music.
It seems to be working fine now but I am a bit concerned about how to play music. It seems very cumbersome to search and select individual tracks and put them into a queue and then play the queue. I am used to the old Rhythmbox music player which allowed me to select by genre, artist, album or track and then would just play the tracks. I could easily listen to jazz, classical or rock or an individual artist.
Am I missing something here on the UI?

Great! Thanks for this info. I used git pull and I see I can browse by genre, album and artist. This should work well but it seems to have a problem when I "Add , Replace and Play" an album, it seems to work fine but if I "Add, Replace and Play" by Artist or Genre, it empties the queue but doesn't add the new tracks.
Also, when I "Add, Replace and Play by Album, sometimes it plays the added tracks but tells me my queue is empty and the arrow play button is not highlighted and not responsive. If I skip to next track, it seems to work fine so probably some kind of update, refresh issue there.
Thanks, this looks like it will work for me and I appreciate the web interface and access to streaming sources.

The current implementation is still far from being perfect, but that code will be rewritten in the future.

You can also add files to the SD card via a samba share from a PC.
