Adding Packages to the RaspberryPi

Postby jwhitmore » 02 Jan 2015, 19:14

Hello all,

Just installed RuneAudio on a B+ RaspberriPi and loving it. I was thinking of adding a few packages to the system so that I could use it as a NAS storage device. I had thought I'd just use apt to install packages but apt ain't installed so just wondering what is the base OS and which package manager is the one to use?

pacman is the package manager for archlinux.

so pacman -Syu or check the man pages :)

Deadly thanks a million for that. Never used Arch before so a little intro is in order.

Just out of interest is there a repo that I should set? I was trying to install emacs and sudo but both are giving me loads of 404 errors when I try to install them with pacman -S

none specifically that I am aware of....you can use nano or vi for editing, since they are there already. and I generally just use root so dont have sudo myself.

maybe the devs can give more pointers for you.

Try pacman -Syu first, before trying to install anything.
