Adding SMB share from windows server

Postby garethsnaim » 22 Apr 2016, 10:31

Hi, sorry I wont spam the forum I promise.

I am not totally dim to networking and names etc, I play all the time but I cannot seem to get rune to connect to my music files on a server running windows server 2011

I have enter the correct IP

My music files are in a folder called Flac Files on the D drive of the windows server, the D drive is also named data1

I have tried:

/Data1/Flac Files/
D:/Data1/Flac Files/
D://Flac Files
D:\\Flac Files
\Data1\Flac Files

And variants of. I have turned off guest access and connected with credentials I know work for other devices.

In all cases when I save the share has a red cross on it, so am I missing something here?

I worked it out, I did not need the slash at the start of the mount, working now!

E: Oops didn't see your previous reply.

Hi, if you're using windows server 2012 R2

I've got a similar issue with my shared folder.
It was because of the feature SMBv1 (used by majority of Linux) not deployed on my server.

Be sure you installed this feature on your server :

After that i was able to mount my shared folder without any problem.

Let me know if it worked for you.

If you can't login with username/password it is possible that rune is using an older security access.
I did solve my problem by going into Advanced options/Mount flags and appended what my server needed ,sec=ntlmssp.
