Audio very quiet and staticy

Postby bluesky2006 » 01 May 2015, 09:42

Installed this great looking program on my Pi last night, managed to get it all working, after a small problem getting a music file to start playing (fixed by switching to HDMI then back to 3.5mm jack).

Problem now is that the sound coming out of my speakers from the Pi is incredibly quiet and really poor quality. Has anyone encountered this problem? How might i fix it?

Maybe volume adaption by use of the aslamixer helps for your issue as well as it did for my, when Frank helped me a while ago:

Thanks ustchu. Can't try it now but will do tomorrow.

I'm not sure the volume is the whole problem though - judging by how bad it sounded I fear turning it up will just make it sound bad, but louder. It feels like a driver issue perhaps but I was hoping it would be a recognised problem on here and someone may have an easy answer!

You need with a USB DAC or an i2c DAC. The pis onboard audio is not great.
