Audiophonics DAC Sabre ES9023 v3

Hello,

I can't get this DAC to play anything. I have followed steps found on this forum and have enabled in /boot/config.txt

dtoverlay=hifiberry-dac

The only thing I can see as a problem is inside dmesg output after boot:

[ 7.527096] snd-hifiberry-dac sound: pcm5102a-hifi <-> 3f203000.i2s mapping ok

Not sure how important this is.
Can anyone help out ?

Hi snake,

after enabling the DAC in /boot/config.txt you have also to select it as output device (MENU->MPD).

Please post your complete debug info.

please turn off hardware volume, because this DAC doesn't allow this.

Hello Frank,

I have tried your suggestion:

1. set volume control to disabled, play = no sound
2. reboot, play = no sound
3. set volume control to software, set volume to 100, play = no sound
4. reboot, play = no sound

My amplifier works fine when something else is connected to the same set of cables.

Am I having a hardware problem ?

Have you tried selecting the analog port on the Pi as output? Not as solution, but to exclude other unrelated hardware issues... I mean, there could be a lot of reasons if you are down to looking at hdw!

I have tried playing through HDMI out and it worked well.
