boot via nfs

Postby elliotn » 08 Oct 2014, 04:21

Anybody tried booting via NFS? I tried moving / & /dev as described in this link: http://www.whaleblubber.ca/boot-raspberry-pi-nfs/ Unfortunately, I get a kernel panic at boot up:
not syncing vfs unable to mount root fs on unknown block(0,255).

I'm probably missing something, but wanted to make sure NFS was/is available at bootup.

Thanks!

I think I can answer my own question. I don't believe NFS is built into the kernel.

Poking around git I do NOT see NFS in "usr/lib/modules/3.12.19-2-ARCH/modules.builtin" and "lsmod|grep nfs" shows various nfs modules. Bummer.
