Can not find RuneAudio as UPnP/DLNA device

Postby dum » 17 Jan 2016, 00:20

Hey there,

I have tried to connect to my device using pulseaudio-dlna, vlc and serviio and none of them can find my device when searching the network. The upmpdcli service is started and it's running. I have experimented with the configuration file but with no luck. When I manually enter the address of RuneAudio when connecting from pulseaudio-dlna the log of the upmpdcli daemon says it can't find file on / (and pulseaudio-dlna waits for some xml?) . Sorry I am not currently on the machine but this was puzzling me, I will post the logs tomorrow.

I am starting to suspect that I don't know what I am doing. Am I getting the terminology right as RuneAudio is my renderer and the other three programs are media servers (that is to say streamers?).

Somebody else had any issues?

Thanks

try to toggle DLNA off and on ('apply settings' between of course) in RuneUI "settings". Try to give it a different name too.

Well no luck, I have fiddled with the config file myself and netstat is showing that upmpdcli is listening on 49152 and I can even telnet into the port, so it is opened without doubt. What I don't get is why pulseaudio-dlna is waiting for a xml document, what is upmpdcli supposed to serve?

It looks like something weird is happening during the discovery phase (where upmpdcli is indeed supposed to serve xml files which describe what services are available).

I think that the first thing to try would be to use a "known working" Control Point, like Bubble UPnP on Android (there is a free, slightly restricted version), or plugplayer on iOS, or upplay (http://www.lesbonscomptes.com/upplay) on Linux or Windows.

If things work with these, then then the Control Point that you are trying to use has a problem. Else, the upmpdcli config on your runeaudio system has one, we can take it further from there.

I am the upmpdcli developper by the way, I am not sure if I'll get email when things are posted here, if you don't see me responding, please ping me at jf at dockes dot org, I'd be glad to help.

medoc92 did you get this resolved? I'm interested in streaming from RuneAudio (on Pi3) to my iPhone. Loving RuneAudio as my music server. Want to listen with headphones sometimes in another room. Trying to use mConnnect player as the renderer. It does not discover the UPNP server on the Rune. I know mConnect can discover UPNP servers --- it sees my JRiver server (and renderer).

Ok. thanks for reply. it's pretty much an edge case, anyway. I mainly listen to my stereo speakers not headphones. i'm a fan of RuneAudio, so just taking the opportunity to say thanks. I would like to vote for some changes to how browsing and search works. is there a forum topic specifically for that? Or, maybe I got it wrong, and since this is open source, then contributing code back is the way to bring about change? So, as an example, when browsing the list of Artists it would help to have the alpha index on the right side to be able to touch "S" and jump to "Santana" instead of swiping my way down.
