Can only connect with browser once then must reboot

this has just started today. I can get the ui up in my browser but if I close the browser and open it again or navigate to another page and come back to the rune UI it will not connect.
Most of the time I dont even get the faded ui with the spinning arrows just a blank screen. The "add to homepage" feature will not connect at all - reboot or not.
Rebooting runeaudio is the only way to reconnect.

This was happening with firefox on my windows computer and chrome on my android phone so I knew it wasn't a browser issue.
I'm not sure how long my pi has been continuously plugged in for, at least five days I'd say and it got a pretty good workout over the weekend.
I have unplugged it and left it for a few hours. The connection issue seems to have cleared up.
