Can't Access Hard Drive Attached to Pi 2 from Windows 8.1

Postby rlsten » 04 Jun 2015, 23:20

Hi,

I have been using Runeaudio for several weeks and it is outstanding. I wanted to access a Seagate 2TB portable drive that is attached to my Pi 2 from Windows to transfer music from the Windows machine to the HDD, but I have been unable to find the Pi 2 on the Windows machine. I have searched the forum and read every post regarding Samba, and have tried several things, but nothing has worked. I am relatively unfamiliar with Arch Linux, so I apologize if this question has been answered before or I am just too stupid to understand it.

I have tried to map the Seagate drive attached to the Pi 2 by entering:

\\192.168.1.165{the ip address of my Pi 2}\mnt\MPD\USB\sda1-ata-ST2000LM003_HN-M

Windows responds that it cannot access that location.

Is there something I need to do to make Samba work on the Pi2 or some change in the smb.conf file I need to make?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.
