Can´t connect to Web Interface

Postby Runer » 07 Feb 2016, 21:03

Hello everybody,

I´m new in the Forum
so first of all hello to everybody!

When I start up my Raspberry Pi it connects to my Network without any problems,
no matter if i´m using Ethernet or WifiDongle.

After a few hours I can´t connect to the Rune webinterface anymore (Using Mac OS X and iOS in different Versions).
The funny thing is i still can ping the IP and connect via ssh! (Ethernet and WLAN)
A few hours later the WIFI connection fails completely and I have to restart my Rasperry Pi 2.

I already stopped the WIFI power management.
Without success.

Does anybody has got an idea?
I love my Rune Audio Player but it´s useless that way!!

Regards

Can you still see the blue activity LED on the EDIMAX dongle blinking after the connection fails?

It might also be interesting to know what power supply is being used for the Pi2, and the length of the USB cable from the power supply to the Pi2.

When I lose connection from the Rune Audio GUI to the Pi, the blue LED turns off (it probably turns off first, and then I lose the connection, but this is hard to see).

(I have almost the same hardware on the Pi2 I use with Rune Audio. Pi2, HiFiBerry DAC+ std version, EDIMAX 7811UN retail pack version, SanDisk Flash Drive.)

Hi,

I don't think that 0.5A 2.5W is enough for your configuration.

Not with a WiFi dongle and the flash drive plugged into the USB ports plus the dac. It may be OK for the Pi by itself, but not much else.

I need 1A 5V (5W) minimum, and most people would say get the 2A 5V (10W) supply if you have to buy a new one. In my opinion it is also a good idea to get a supply with a detachable cable, and to buy a good cable. 1 meter distance is perfect, some people try to use up to 3m and that often does not turn out well.

I have measured the voltage, current, and power for my configuration, and the Pi2 with everything plugged in uses about 0.4A or 2W while playing music, BUT it can use over 0.6 A peak for short periods of time. So this is over 3W peak power (in my case).

I don't know much about routers, sorry. Someone else would have to answer that.

edit:

I also found this thread, seems to be the same or similar issue:

Hi,

my runeaudioplayer now runs for about 24hours without losing connection.
yeah... new personal world record :)

It seems that the update solves the problem!
But I should´t praise the day before evening.
I will keep you up to date!

Thank you very much for your help so far!

Anyway I will get a new power supply just to be sure ( I forgot to say that it´s 5V ;) )
Thanks for that advice!
