[SOLVED] Can't create a NFS mount

Hello,

Attempting to create a NFS mount for my music folder located on a Synology DS213+ (NFS permissions added for the IP of the PI), the error is that it can't authenticate. Not able to input the username and password for the user account on the NAS, the area is greyed out in the mount options! The fields are only available under a SMB/CIFS share only.

Am I missing something or is there an issue/bug that needs resolving?

Hi njp,
username and password inputs are greyed because there is no authentication required for NFS protocol, you just have to add your Rpi's IP address to the allowed ones in your NAS control panel.
Btw, I use a Synology DS214 and it works flawlessly. Please remember that with NFS protocol you have to put the right volume index in the path. For example to mount my "Music" folder in the NAS I have to put "volume1/Musica" in the path.

Okay yep I'm officially a plonker - was putting a capital letter in the path, lowercased it and now its connecting! Scholboy error, could have sworn my music folder was 'Music, but it was 'music'.

One question - after connecting I notice in the advanced settings, there's a flag there now - nfsver=3. I've got NFS v4 enabled on the NAS, can i change this to nfsver=4 to force it to run in v4 or doesn't it matter i.e. there's no benefits? There's another flag there too - "ro". What does this flag do and are there any other flags I should be adding for best performance, usability, etc.

Definitely living happy right now! Left the options default under the NFS settings.

The PI is indexing the music a LOT faster via NFS share compared to SMB/CIFS. In fact it's significant. Still having to press the Remount button when switching the PI off and on. Hopefully it's something that gets sorted out in future builds, it doesn't seem to be remounting on ethernet either. Really enjoying the sound quality of the whole setup and runeaudio is a pleasure to use, it already seems really robust especially for an alpha build.

I can't really hear a difference between the sound signature profiles (ears aren't trained, don't know what I'm listening out for), but I've got it set to OrionV3 - IQaudiO. Is this fine to keep on or is one of the other profiles better?
