Can't stream audio from ubuntu to runeaudio

I tried every guide I found to stream audio from ubuntu to runeaudio and nothing worked...
I can do it from my android phone so runeaudio works.

tried rygel and its conf, pulseaudio selecting airtunes and also tried with dlna/upnp, installed all the needed package like papref, raop/minidlna, set the correct sink, tried both flac and wav etc
Can't even get it to play with vlc.

Can't get it working. I see the runeaudio devices in the ubuntu sound menu but I never saw runeUI switching to those inputs.
RuneUI indeed does switch the input source when playing from android, and works both airplay and dlna/upnp.
So must be a fault on the ubuntu side...

Running on latest runeaudio 0.3beta. Pc running ubuntu 14.10.

Could you explain how you made it, starting from a clean ubuntu install?

I've fought this for a while. If there is a renderer (gmrender or upmpdcli) on the local network, it will show up as a upnp renderer in a number of apps many of which are on mobile devices (i.e. android BubbleUPnP). There is a very crude application which runs under linux (gtk based) which can 'see' upnp devices and can even control them to some extent (read: poorly and not completely). It would be a Good Idea (tm) if PulseAudio had a plugin which woudl allow it to use upnp renderers, but it does not exist nor is it in development afaik. ALso, I have not been able to get the rygel/pulse recipe to work. They do 'just show up' as speakers from media player in windows.

As of 0.5, rune can run upmpdcli (turn it on in the config) and will show up as a renderer and as such can be controlled by a 'control point'.
