Cannot connect to NAS

Postby foxint » 09 Jul 2016, 09:39

Hi Guys
Hope you can help?? I cannot connect to NAS??? Yes I followed (tried) to follow the instructions.

In Windows Explorer the NAS is:
Clients (\\192.168.1.200) (Z:) and the music is in 1111-Music

On the rune it says:
Clients //192.168.1.200/111-Music

For some reason the \\ changed to //...is this a problem?? I just ticked all the default.

I tried all manner of Usernames and passwords and even no password. I think I need to know the user name of the runne...but I have no idea. I tried Pi and MusicStore. But as usual nothing.l...

Can anyone lend a hand??

Hi Guys

I have tried to put the music in all manner of places - nothing???

I searched for the error message:

mount error(13): Permission denied Refer to the mount.cifs(8) manual page (e.g. man mount.cifs)

But I could not find anything.

I used the browser and I saw:
file://192.168.1.200/clients/Music/

I copied this without // with // without clients/Music/... all manner of variations.

Still nothing.

Any suggestions.??? Can anyone suggest.

Hi Frank

Thanks for the instructions and suggestions. I thought I did all this?? But let's start from the basics....

Not really sure HOW:

Check the NAS fro the shared folder. Using Windows Explorer from different places it seems to say different things:
e.g. This PC/Client (NAS(NAS Server))...and Clients (\\192.168.1.200) (Z:)/Music... and Network/NAS/Clients/Music

Which do I use??

For permission. What is the proper name and password??

Proper Name?? Name of my PC? Name of the Raspberry Pi3? USB (\\192.168.1.123\MusicStore) (P:)
Password?? Network or NAS password.

See it is very comples??

Sorry that I am not understanding it.

Hi Frank

I am very grateful for all your help and the help of the others. But it is very confusing.

Sorry. I really do not understand the NAS documentation. It just worked. It is a QNAP and I got it working via remote access from the QNAP man...he was very helpful, but I have no idea what ne did.

I am still very confused about the below and any other NAS stuff:

Check the NAS from the shared folder. Using Windows Explorer from different places it seems to say different things:
e.g. This PC/Client (NAS(NAS Server))...and Clients (\\192.168.1.200) (Z:)/Music... and Network/NAS/Clients/Music

Which do I use??

For permission. What is the proper name and password??

Proper Name?? Name of my PC? Name of the Raspberry Pi3? USB (\\192.168.1.123\MusicStore) (P:)
Password?? Network or NAS password.

Sorry guys. All my computer stuff is plug and play. I am in the bush and worked it all out myself. But obviously not good enough to work out this stuff....

if you do not know how to do this than you should turn to some one who does. Your friend, maybe someone who you know?
Or maybe use Teamviewer session where someone set it up for you ;)

Hi Rickardo

I am sorry, I live in the country and there is no one who knows. The QNAP man was from QNAP in Asia who set up the QNAP. There is a computer shop in town, but I know more about computers than them. They are basically sales and no technical ability is out here. The last time I went in there they had never seen a SSD...so their techncial ability is nicely put "poor"

Sorry to ask hard questions. It is the only way I can learn. I did search the froum and the internet...but all the instructions worked. There is very little out there to solve issues that do not work.

Hi foxint,

it only took me 10 seconds to find this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kOkafwPzBXc
Search criteria within google "qnap smb nfs setup"

- First you have to setup your share (QNAP) => share name, user and password
- Next setup RuneAudio to use this share.
- ready to go
