Cannot find my raspberry pi 2 IP address

Postby austinrothwell » 15 Jan 2016, 05:54

Hi,

I am trying to set up a raspberry pi 2. I have completed all the necessary steps to be able to access the rune UI, however I am unable to find the IP address of my raspberry pi.

I have tried connecting wirelessly and through LAN, neither of which allow me to view my raspberry pi IP address. I can see all the other devices connected to my network, just not my raspberry pi.

It seems like my raspberry pi will not connect to my network automatically when I turn it on. I'm not sure what to do.

Thank you,

Austin

Thanks for the quick reply!

I've tried connecting with ethernet only, but still am not able to see my raspberry pi. I will try re writing the SD card image.

Thank you,

Austin

You're not using ? I had a similar situation, then the ip is not displayed because of this.

Try a ping sweep on your network:

1) Download any one of a number of free ping sweep tools, this is a decent one: http://www.netscantools.com/freeware.html
2) With your Pi powered off run the utility and note the IP addresses responding.
3) Power on your Pi, wait 2 minutes.
4) Run the utility again, note any addresses responding now that didn't in #2.
5) Type those addresses in your web browser, see if you can connect to your Pi.

If there's no difference in the hosts responding in #2 and #4 something is amiss with your Pi, it's connection, etc.

Do try a WIRED connection first. Get into the Pi with a wired connection THEN setup the wireless if desired.

Good luck.
Synology DS214+ -> RP3 -> Hifiberry Digi+ -> Audio-Gd NOS1704 (coax) -> Audio-GD C-2 preamp/headphone amp ->

1) Yamaha M-4 Power Amp -> Energy Pro 22 Speakers OR 2) HiFiMan HE-400i

I use an app on my phone called Fing.

just make sure both are on the same network (incase your router has both a 2.4 and 5 Ghz wireless networks).

your rune device will be called 'rune audio' and Raspberry Pi in smaller letters.

Pretty easy.

rAudio 1, Raspberry Pi 4B
rAudio 1, Raspberry Pi Zero W
