Cannot mount my PC's hard drive

Postby cordobaman » 19 Feb 2016, 23:55

Hello and Help please. Apologies ahead of time for being so new at this. Seems I've tried every combo to try and mount my Pi to my PC's hard drive.

I am attempting to use a RPi2 to stream music off my PC's hard drive under WIN10. Everything is ethernet connected and the hard drive is shared in Windows.

For Network mounts I've tried
Source Name: Music
Fileshare protocol: SMB/CIFS
IP address: Inspiron-pc and also 192.168.1.28
Remote directory: m (the hard drive's letter) and m/music

I get
"mount error(13): Permission denied Refer to the mount.cifs(8) manual page (e.g. man mount.cifs)"

Any ideas please!

I did this and now my hard drive is mounted.
For the first, go to the drive and then go to Properties>Sharing>Advanced Sharing>Permission and on the "EVERYONE" group/user assign all the permissions. If everyone is not listed, then add them to the list.

For the second go to Properties>Security>Edit>Add and add "EVERYONE". Then assign all the permission you want to "EVERYONE".

Now I can see a network mount when I Browse Library...still not getting anything to show up
Empty queue, add some music! Click, select the network mount, but No Joy :(

Any help here?

Hi cordobaman,

you have to share a folder first and then use the public name of this folder as "Remote directory".
Please search the web for a how to on this subject.
Maybe this will help

After this you have to wait until mpd has scanned your music library.

Making some progress. I have my PC hard drive mounted, the library is loaded,

I have music playing on the screen...but no output from my PiFi DAC+ (IS2 DAC).

Searching led me to a post that mentions "My I2S DAC (P1F1 DAC+ v2.0) works perfectly with RuneAudio release version: 0.4 (build: beta-20141216) with the audio output setting as HiFiBerry DAC+ (I2S). The sound is astonishing and better than most of USBDAC interface.", but I do not see any option to choose an audio output setting other than HDMI or analog.

Anyone have some tips for this problem?

Seaching for the problem helps...one step at a time. I removed the # in the config file and was able to choose Hifiberry DAC on the MPD screen...yea! However I still have no sound output. Darn it! What's my next step?

I guess if one keeps trying...never die...it's comes together. If anyone else is configuring a PiFi DAC+ you'll want to choose the Hifiberry DAC+ configuration to get everything to work. Sound pretty dern good about now.

Thanks Frank...for this post and others on a similar subject.
