Hi,
I don't think that you need xfce. As you start midori in full screen , you don't need window manager anymore.
I think it's possible to start an X server with midori at boot time.
On Ubuntu it's possible to start a user session at boot time, if the user has an xinitrc script with just midori in it, I think it can be possible to have just midori on the screen.
This is just ideas not tested, but you know : "Be cool, Linux can do it! ;) "

Was making something similar as you are using musicbox but I like the gui of Runeaudio much more. I had trouble creating a runeaudio version because i couldn't update (pacman -Syu) the packages without ruining runeaudio. (archlinux newbie)

Have you tried using matchbox window manager to create a small and lightweight xserver window for midori to speed up loadtime and decrease system load?

And I would suggest using unclutter to hide the mouse pointer for your touch-screen.

Nice add-on would be to hide the boot log using:

and adding a nice splash-screen using

I will try your Runeaudio image tonight, looking forward.
