Connecting turntable to Raspberry

Postby aleksas » 27 Jan 2016, 13:45

Hello

I think to buy a TEAC TN-200 turntable with USB and RCA Pin jack output options. I wonder if I could connect it to my Raspberry so that rune would see it as an audio source. Or would I need additional device to convert the audio into say internet radio stream to add it to rune library?

Howdy,

please dont do this. There are plenty of really great turntables available for cheap on the second hand market, search craigslist or visit one of your local thrift stores.
These USB tables are the cheapest quality available. Adding a cheap but good quality RIAA preamp and connect directly to a power amp. The digital integration in these turntables is a no cost solution and you wont gain any quality from that. For Vinyl ripping people usually use quite high end setups with dedicated ADCs or high end soundcards.

Do yourself a favor, keep your digital and analog seperated and enjoy both within their own limitations. A good turntable and decent quality RIAA preamp will cost you around 150 USD maybe even less when you get lucky on the second hand market.
