copying music to usb drive over network

oke this is bit of a linux, networking newby question rather than a rune audio question but i believe you can still help me with it.

i woud like to copy music that is have on my laptop directly to the ssd drive connected to the raspberry pi (sdb i believe, will check on fore hand ofcourse), how can i do this? preferrably via terminal

Download a scp client: WinScp or Far manager.

Add ssh connection to pi there and browse pi filesystem as if was windows or Mac. I assume your sdb device is mounted on pi.

eh yeah it is mounted on pi,

but i work on linux both pi and laptop (ubuntu) i know how to log in the pi on the terminal but then the terminal is 'the pi' how do i get to on mine laptop and pi at the samen time that i can do a copy to... execution

Then simply use scp.

On your laptop:

scp -pr <music_file> root@runeaudio:<path to sdb mounting point>/
