crash when switching from flac to mp3

Hi everybody,

My Rasp3 has been crashing for some time. I had no idea why, but now I detect a pattern. I have a long playlist and the crash happens always when Runeaudio switches from playing a flac song to an mp3 song. Runeaudio plays the first couple of seconds of the mp3 file, then sound is gone.

The mp3 files are fine, as I can play them fine in any other player on my computer (even directly from the Raspberry Pi3), so I'm sure it's not a question of a corrupt mp3 file.

And it happens with all mp3 files I tried so far.

Runeaudio becomes unresponsive. I cannot restart the stream or select another song. I have to disconnect the power and reconnect the Raspberry Pi3 again to connect to it.

I am using an Is2dac (Pi-dac+). And wifi.

Any ideas?

Hi,

i did some quick tests with my RP3 and Hifiberry DAC+.

What happens when you stop the player before selecting the mp3?

BTW: I also did a kernel and firmware update.

In this case mp3 file plays fine.

Hi Tom,

so there is an issue with your DAC (or driver) not switching to the correct samplerate.
Sorry, but at the moment i have no solution for this.

But when the queue is short there is no problem switching between flac and mp3.
Also in the past when I was burning in my previous headphones (over year ago) there was no problem with even longer queues (several hours of mixed tracks (flac, mp3, flac 96kHz)). DAC was the same (Burson Conductor).

Hi Tom,

as this does not happen for me it is hard to debug.
If you like to help please try:

- navigate to http://your-pi-ip/dev
- enable debug mode
- go to MENU->MPD and set log level to verbose
- play around with your device until it happens again
- check the log files in /var/log/runeaudio for errors and report
