Dirble (null) radio stations, quality ??

I find most radio stations in VERY low bit rates, at the open free directory, about 45-55 kbps,
this low bit rate sound VERY bad, must be played at ultra low sound levels
else i just cant live with the high pitched miss-tones, drives me nuts.

how do people solve this ?

my favorite radio stations from LA play in fair quality from Streema.com on a PC
however I am not able to figure out how to get that link working inside runeaudio ??
any ideas ?
