Discover my Pi HDD on Win 10 Network

Postby foxint » 23 Apr 2016, 09:51

Hi Guys....
All good...sound great.

How can I map the Pi that is connected via (Cat-6 cable) to my network....?? I tried to map the drive 192.168.1.123 (that is accessible via a web browser) via windows and cannot do it?

Why so I can access the HDD and copy, delete etc the files without having to connect it to my PC....

The Pi people tell me it magically appears on my network....all the other PC's magically appear but not the PI???

Any suggestions?

Forums like this thrive on FEEDBACK.... you tell us/them your problem, we/they help... your role is to give feedback, ie Did the solution solve the problem? This is so that others can learn from the solution. WTF solved this ----> "No Music - all I did was unplug and pluged in Toshlink"? Did you find a solution?

Edit: I been waiting eight (8) days (since 21 Apr 2016, 18:31) for an answer to this:

Sir

Thank you for the suggestion. It did not work.

Perhaps I was not clear: I would like to see the Pi that has a HDD connected (via USB) on my windows network. I would like to use windows explorer and copy, paste and change the music library.

Yesterday I downloaded an album and I had to put it on a drive that was on my network and to get it onto the Pi I will have to disconnect the HDD and re-connect it to my windows network - then put it back onto the Pi.

If it were on the network I could have downloaded the album direct. I coudl also backup the music....

Any suggestions. Will I have to (and can I) put more sofrtware on the Pi??

Thanks for anyone offerring a hand.

Hi Frank

I am assuming you want me to access it via a web browser?

No it did not work, with or without the \

Software Failure. Press left mouse button to continue.

I am confused....even it it worked, how would I copy/paste/delete files from the HHD connected to the Pi from my network.

So how do others copy/paste/delet music files?

I tried samba on my other Pi - far too hard and there are no easy step-by-step instructions. The Raspberry Forum is not very friendly...I like ti here...the people do not judge idiots like me
