It is well worth it to find a player which supports gapless playback as a UPnP/DLNA renderer on Raspberry Pi 3. You wouldn't believe the trouble I have had finding any player supporting gapless playback properly.

Just don't allow it to drop out of any updates, or I'll want my money back
