nas mount (nfs)

Postby spikey1973 » 28 Feb 2018, 20:19

hey guys,

sorry haven't been here a while and haven't used my player either. but am back on track had a question.

i have my player setup in the past and it worked great. i access my music on a ssd drive externally connected (eSATA2) on my nas.
Now i want to play some music again i can't seem to get access. I know i had problems in the past but got it solved by reading through this topic.

can-t-create-a-nfs-mount-t476-10.html

i'm not sure if i missed something but this time reading through it really didn't help.

what settings do I have:
RPI:

source name: Music
FSP: NFS
ip: 192.168.0.200 (ip of my nas)
RD: share/eSATA2

NAS (Asustor as6102t with 3.0.5.RDU1 OS version)
NAS ip: 192.168.0.200
Drive name: eSATA2
tree location: share/eSATA2

NFS settings:
Client adress: 192.168.0.202 (ip RPI)
Priviliges: read and write
root mapping: root (0), other options: guest (998), Admin (999), Me (1000)
asynchonous: enabled
allowing connections from non-reserved ports disabled.

i've tried several root mappings and other options but didn't seem to be able to mount (which i have been in the past)

when i try to access 192.168.0.200/share/eSATA2 directly via my browser (ubuntu) i get the following error: object not found: 404 error.
haven't rebooted everytime for every effort.

anyways. if someone can help me out. i would love to listen to some music while studying but because of that i really haven't got the time to really dive into this to deeply.

kind regards

Matthieu

Hi Matthieu,

You didn't mention what type of NAS this is. Is it a brand name or some sort of DIY thing running one of the free nas images?

The typical NFS mount for unix/windows is <host>:<exported path> <mount point>
example: 192.168.0.200:/share/eSATA2 /remote_music

TL;DR

NFS is pretty outdated these days (although yes it is available and from what I can read so far it does seem to be supported) but it's a lot more work than it's worth probably. If you can setup the share as SAMBA (windows) or AFS (apple share) that's probably a much easier thing to authenticate and mount.

Hope that helps.

Didn't say it wasn't. Samba/SMB are easier for most to set up and connect for modern NAS/OS.
