External USB-SATA SSD Enclosure Issue

Postby bb3ii » 01 Apr 2015, 01:00

Good Day Gents!

Attempting to use a Nexstar CX USB to SATA external HD enclosure as it has an external power port. Intel 240GB 520 Series SSD, 5V supplied via Paul Pang regulator via 12V battery (I know, overkill). Setup works fine in Winblows 7, 8, 2012.

When same setup is connected to RPi B+, Rune pops up the USB drive connected but it does not mount...total Linux noob here...

Looks like it is identified, but something is not working here. Any ideas??

Thanks...bb3ii

Have a look here at my previous post on the matter of USB power...

I had read that post and did implement the suggestions...to no avail. The enclosure is not drawing any power from the port as the power leads in the USB cable have been cut to ensure the external power supply is utilized.

Interestingly enough, this setup works flawlessly on the Pi2 with the latest Rune build I could find. B+ doesn't like it though...
