Hi Guys

Sorry to piss you off...but still not working.

The HiFiBerry Digi+ has an RCA not a Coax.

I set the Little Dot to 24bit 192....played a 24 bit 192 file and nothing; 24 bit 96 (DAC shows 96) bad sound; 16 bit 44.1 (DAC shows 44.1) good sound.

So what is next??

The single round connector on the DIGI+ that you are calling RCA, that is actually a connector for a coax digital audio cable. It is white, and next to the optical cable connector. There will be a corresponding single connector on the back of your DAC, also white, labeled input. On the DAC it may be labeled RCA, that is common with Chinese gear. Wrong, but common. It takes a cable like this one:

The cables generally cost less than $10 online.

If you don't like spending $10 on a new cable, then you have to set your DAC to 96K, and hope for the best... :) Based on the review you posted, a new cable is your best bet. Good luck!

Hi Guys

Thank you

I will up/download files (Rainbow Wind -16bit/44.1/0kbps: - would not load...the browser just went white.....will try later - thanks

Very interesting.... so if I type this into an eBay search I should get the right thing:

SPDIF 75 Ohm Digital Coaxial Audio/Video RCA Cable 10m

I have the CD transport (Little Dot) connected to the DAC via BNC (I thought that was coax). So I have this "RCA" free.

OK...thank you... I am going to get myself into trouble (again) by asking.....is there such thing as a "SPDIF 75 Ohm Digital Coaxial Audio/Video RCA Cable" SWITCH....so I can connect the PC (so I can watch/listen to videos etc) and connect the Pi to the switch and switch between the.

Or is this not right??

Thanks
D
PS...tried to submit this for the last 10 mins....

You can buy a 75 Ohm Digital Coaxial Audio/Video RCA (only the connector on each end is an RCA type, not the cable) Cable 10m from KMart (I've seen them there), maybe even Officeworks, Coles, Woolworths or Target. Tell me what stores you have local there and I'll find one for you and send you a link.

Stereo RCAs have plastic red and white in the connector itself... coax RCA's are yellow. These were primarily used for TV antennae. You may also notice that with stereo RCA's, the center pin in the middle of the connector does not stick out as far as the center pin in the middle of the coax 'RCA' connectors.

"I have the CD transport (Little Dot) connected to the DAC via BNC (I thought that was coax)."

Yes, I believe it is a coaxial cable, with BNC connectors on the ends. So we have cable types, and connector types, and never the twain shall meet. I know it seems like we are nick-picking, but if we become confused about which cable your using, or which connector, then we will give you incorrect advice and then we will look like dip-shiits.

Like for instance, we did not know you had a coax cable, with BNC connectors, as we do not as yet know how to read minds... we only know how to ask questions and wait for answers (that be your role in all this), then we picture these answers in our minds-eye so we can make recommendations back to you.

By the way, we ARE working on mind altering drugs that will assist us to read minds, only to be used on the RuneAudio forum of course. We will then be able to email answers to questions before they are asked, this will of course reduce bandwidth related issues when running a forum such as this one...

Hi Guys

Your support and help is very much appreciated. I am sorry if I did not provide enouhg informaiton. Seems like there are a lot of variables in digital music. A huge learning curve.

No my problem is not fixed and it remains.

I have ordered a: 10m Single RCA Cable for Subwoofer or Digital Coaxial Audio or Composite Video. From eBay AUD14.95, I resisted the more expensive ones....I live in the bush and if it did exist here it would be 3 - 4 times more than the real world. I will be interested to see the result.

Thanks

Hi foxint,

is your optical cable the same length (10m)?
