finding hard drive mount windows 10

Postby Tedo1960 » 11 Mar 2016, 18:10

Good afternoon,
I cant seem to get my hard drive on my PC to mount on my pi powered, touch screen set up.
I have shared my Music folder and re set the security on it to allow sharing. I have tried this address for the folder "\\Desktop-ulc1nn6\pcmusic" which is the network path that appears in the properties for the folder. I have tried this "C:\Users\tedo1\Music" which is the location found under general.
I have tried adding passwords and removing them.
I'm buggered if I know whats going on.

Ideas please.

Thanks
Ted

Perhaps it would be easier to use a more easy path for the first step, like C:\music.
I can imagine that for a Windows system folder like Desktop it's quite hard to start with.
Good luck.

I did try that a couple of days ago but still no joy. Thanks for the thought though,

Make sure you have just the actual name of the share as seen on the network, not the full path in Windows 10. Normally in Windows the name you give to a shared folder is whatever you happened to name it at the time you set up the share. That's the name you have to use in RuneAudio.

I don't have access to Windows 10 right now, but - if I have a directory like C:\something\somethingelse\Music and I happen to call it "Petesmusic" when I share it on the network, then "Petesmusic" is what I have to enter in

MENU > Sources > Add New Mount > Remote directory

Not the path to Petesmusic, just "Petesmusic"

(plus select SMB/CIFS if this is a Windows share, AND the correct IP address of the host computer etc.)

HI, thanks for your help. I created a new share called PCMUSIC and checked ip address using FING on ipad. Also checked access to folder using file browser on ipad and shares are visible to it. file browser seems to require a password to access the PC so added that to PC log in and changed details in rune mount dialogue but all to no avail. rune just wont see the share. ONe thing i did notice file browser on ipad was that the PC took a while to appear, much slower than the other devices shown on the network (rune and router).

not sure if this helps but here is error message;

Thanks for the help Pete, I have tried with and without password set to try and find out the issue. the settings I have are

Source name PcLibrary

Fileshare protocol SMB/CIFS

ip address as checked using FING on ipad 192.168.1.153

remote directory tedstunes (as set when setting up share)

Guest access on (to avoid need for password)

error message is;

mount error(13): Permission denied Refer to the mount.cifs(8) manual page (e.g. man mount.cifs)

thanks for your help.

Hi all,

next week i'll try to get access to a Windows 10 machine.
It should not be that hard to connect to a shared folder on it.
I'll report here after testing.
