Flash Drive/USB Mounts

Postby PeteB » 27 May 2016, 19:23

I think I need an explanation or a link to a description of how removal/dismounting is supposed to work when more than a single flash drive is connected/disconnected. USB mounts are created auto-magically by default, and work well, however removal is not-so-magical, even when power is off at the time.

I noticed this when I was playing some music I have archived on a couple old USB flash drives. After inserting a couple (one at a time) with power on, and later removing them with power off, the results were messy. So far I have not stumbled across the correct way to do it.

I may need a remedial lesson in USB magic, but in the meantime, a link or an explanation would help...

Thanks in advance.

Thanks, I tried that too. Once I disconnected the USB flash drives with power off, it did not seem to do anything. Maybe I skipped a step?

Frank,

Thanks. I guess I missed that memo. I swept the leftovers into the bitbucket and all is well again. I think I assumed that removing the flash drives with power off was same as un-mounting them explicitly, and from that assumption it was a slippery slope...

Back to the "Physical Kids Shack" for me...
