Has anyone successfully configured Runeaudio to play FM radio. In that case, what hardware did you use?

Hi Bo,

Have you explored the Webradios section of the library yet? Strictly speaking, FM radio as such is not available but many radio stations provide a stream of their output which you can find and receive.

True FM requires an FM tuner. This outputs an analogue signal so is of no use to a Pi. On my second system, I have an Audiolab 8000T tuner (superlative sound) and I feed the output directly to a power amp via a passive pre-amp. The other input on the pre-amp is a DAC.

Streaming radio is usually of acceptable quality for most purposes and requires no more equipment or outlay than you will already have in place for your Pi. I personally connect my Pi with ethernet rather than wifi and have had no gaps, glitches or clicks since doing so. If you don't have ethernet near your Pi, invest in a pair of power line LAN plugs - this works fine for me.

Let us know how you get on.

Regards,

Trevor

ok you peaked my interest into Absolute Radio from the UK
I went to their website and they claim the streams are only available within the UK because of advertising agreements
You eluded to a way around this. Any hint on how?

Thank you for your replies but I am specifically looking for FM radio. I live in Madrid, Spain and I want to listen to some local FM stations. I am particularly interested in using a USB FM receiver. They sell them on ebay for a couple of Euros. I have an external area so I get a good signal. At the moment I have a traditional transistor radio plugged into my amp but it would be so much better to run it through the RP and DAC as the sound quality is much better.
