Hardware Volume controll

Postby peterlm844 » 30 Nov 2015, 10:14

Hi forum
Im all new to media streaming and Im about to build a solution now. I have some issues about Volume Controll, I hope you can help me understand it.

What I need is.
A Rasberry Pi (new wersion) based system that can stream from my NAS.
I have a really competent class D amp I want to use.
I want Hardware Volume controll as well as in software.

I cannot really find out what hardware I need for this. Nor can i find out what rotary encoder I will need. For med it appears that some DAC´s has a interface for rotary enconders, but i cannot find any documetation for it.

So in short my question is.
What hardware will I need for making a streaming solution based on Rasberry Pi and Runeaudio that supports hardware volume controll AND software controll?
