Hdmi 24/96 and Multichannel Flac

I was wondering if rune audio can output 24/96 audio over HDMI to a Receiver.
I have a bunch of Flac audio files that are 24/96 and a few that are 5.1 multichannel.

If this isn't possible would the Hifiberry digi+ work?

I connect my RPi directly to my Onkyo AVR via HDMI also. I have yet to try multichannel flac but at present it does not output 24/96 according to the AVR's OSD.

This is possible however, as testing showed me that Raspbmc would output mutlichannel flac and had hi-res support according to the Onkyo OSD. I think I read another post on this forum somewhere suggesting it was all kernel driven as they had seen the same behaviour.

I am using Rune Audio 0.3beta with git-pull updates as of a few days ago but have not tried the various kernels that come suplied with the beta so do not know if any of these kernels offer 24/96 support.

I am going to try a couple of projects. Rasbbmc, openelec and rune audio.
I haven't compiled a kernel in many years but I assume that if it is just a change in one of the source files we should be able to compile our own kernel with this support.

I just got my Pi in the mail today.
I installed openelec and it seems to be outputting 24/96 via hdmi. at least the overview info while playing is stating 24/96.
I can't verify as my AVR does show that info.
Cool thing is I was streaming the stereo 24/96 from plex media center.

I will try multi channel later tonight as I was kicked off the our entertainment center.

Well Multi Channel flac did not work so well. The files play and I can hear all channels going but it stutters. I tried direct from the sd card and still the same issue. Must not be enough horse power to decode 6 channels.
