Help!!!!

Postby Soundmachinery » 06 Dec 2015, 13:23

Hi guys

As a complete noob to all things Pi and Nas I wonder if you can help me configure my Pi (in easy steps!) to recognise my WD mycloud and set up internet radio stations. I have searched the forums and have been very confused as exactly what to do. I also have a weird issue in that if I use the browser on either my laptop or iPad I connect fine to runeaudio.local but not if i use my android phone with either the stock browser or chrome. I have enabled wifi and turned mobile data off.

Hope you can help as so far playing from attached storage to the Pi is very impressive

First of all, go to rune audio interface and go to menu => sources.
then add new mount.
enter whatever source name you would like, and for the next fields (protocol, ip address, remote directory ...) fill in what's relevant for your wd cloud.
probably SMB for the protocol. you need to know the ip address of your drive (go to your router config page and check the connected devices IP adresses).

Hi

I have done that and get this error

Retrying with upper case share name mount error(6): No such device or address Refer to the mount.cifs(8) manual page (e.g. man mount.cifs)

I have entered the ip address as indicated on my windows laptop

Hi,

Correct NAS set-up is not usually achieved first time but it's usually straightforward to resolve and worth it once working. 8-)

Can you show a screen shot of the NAS settings you have entered? Windows Snipping Tool is useful for this, in case it helps. Otherwise, just specify the values entered for each field on the NAS entry screen so we can see what it's trying to use.

With regard to accessing Runeaudio via Android phone, this works on the standard browser. Just find the IP address of the Runeaudio device on your network and enter it in the address (URL) bar. This can then be saved as a bookmark for future use. As an example of the exact format to be used, my Android Runeaudio bookmark is 'http://192.168.0.4' (less the single quotes).

You might have two IP addresses as an ethernet and wifi dongle will each have their own addresses - either will work this way. It appears from your post that you already know your IP address so this shouldn't be a problem.

Does your WDCloud require password access? If so, specify your ID and pwd in the Guest access section.

Other than that, the last thing to get right is usually the sub-directory definition. Try experimenting with different combinations once you've seen how Windows Explorer categorises the sub-directory. As examples, to connect to my music on my PC I had to use 'Users/Trevor/Music' (without the single quotes) but on my later NAS I just used 'music' (without the single quotes).

There is no password and the tree is Public/Shared Music/Mp3 but it still doesn't find it!

The last screen print says 'No such file or directory'. You're getting close...

Try different combinations, e.g. removing 'Public/', etc. Or adding '/mp3'.
