I have been running rune on a Pi 3 for some time but have recently switched from a USB HD plugged into the Pi to a NAS (WD My Cloud) connected to my router in the next room.
It's close to running well, but there are two issues:
1. The library takes forever to rebuild. I have about 600GB of FLAC files on the NAS and it takes many hours (I fell asleep after about 4 hours of waiting) to build the library, during which time playback isn't possible. This is a problem as I tend to add new files to my library a few times a week. I've deleted a few stray video files that had found their way into my music folder as I heard this could be causing the slow wait times, though there was only about 1GB of videos on there.
2. Playback glitches. I'm getting a slight glitch every now and again, maybe every 10 minutes. It's not ruining my listening experience but it's a step down from what I was used to with the local HD. This is happening when listening to 44.1khz FLACs, I've got a few 88/96/192khz FLACs that I haven't got around to testing but I imagine that would be out of the question (not a huge deal as 99% of my library is 44.1khz).
My router is only a couple of metres away in the room above my listening room, separated by a thin wooden floor - my MacBook gets great wifi signal down there. No other devices are using the NAS, though there other folks in this house connected to the wifi.
Is this just the nature of the NAS setup or are there settings within Rune I can play with to get a better experience? Or should I be looking at my network and router first?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions!
