In Car Entertainment, got a few questions.

So... Basically I am considering building something into my car that will enable me to play my entire FLAC collection of files.

I guess my current line of thought is something along:
Google Nexus 7 (dashboard mounted)
Pioneer headunit (DEH-80PRS)
USB-modem and Wifi-router
Raspberry Pi with Hifiberry DAC

I would let the Pi and tablet access the wireless and I would be able to use the tablet to control the Pi.
Since I am not the patient type, could someone give me a pointer on the "time-to-music" from I turn the ignition?
How robust is it against cutting the power, will I ruin the installation every once in a while or shouldn't it matter?
I guess I would run a wired network cable from the router to the Pi and have the Pi running a ~500 GB harddrive.

Are there any apparent pitfalls in this approach?

And I'm not using standalone router. Modem and wifi are connected to raspi. Raspi is configured as router.
The sense is faster connection nexus to raspi and acces to music player.

I'll keep that in mind if I go on, my main concern is with startup time and what happens when power is cut off.
I am primarily the "flash-card-and-insert" type of guy, so I will not be doing any tweaking to get the Pi acting as a router.
I am not sure if having a wireless dongle on the USB will take too much bandwidth from the harddrive (I seem to remember that usb ports share bandwidth). Hmm, come to think of it, is it the USB's that share bandwidth with the ethernet?

Ethernet: 10/100 mbps
WiFi: 24/54/154 mbps (I think you can count on 54)

Yeah, well I was thinking more along the lines of the internal bandwidth of the SoC.
I just read that in fact ethernet and USB shares interface (ethernet is routed through the usb controller) so it shouldn't matter if I choose wifi or ethernet.

Raspi has just one data bus which working with both USB-ports and ethernet. It is a 480 mbps for all.

Besides power consumption, would the above setup benefit from an SSD instead of a normal harddrive?

How about data loss when power is cut?

But you should keep in mind that means brutto 480 mbps, it is contains all technical trash like a headers and other. So real bandwidth will be much smaller.

Oh, it would have to go through the USB interface, I am only wondering if I will see a performance increase if I use an SSD or if a conventional harddrive can "satisfy" the interface bandwidth?
