Internal browser character set .

Postby nik » 03 Mar 2017, 08:09

Hi from Greece
Using the 04. version and the previous 03 on my raspberry pi2 , I get the following behavior ...
Controlling Rune via web browsers from other devices (Pc ,tablet ,phone) the titles and artist names displayed correctly (My native language is Greek so I have a quite large collection of songs tagged in Greek language) in the built in browser which displayed from HDMI output the titles and names displayed with unknown characters so it became useless because I plan to buy a 7' inch touch screen to built it as a stand alone solution .Other than that works ok and I am very pleased.
Is there a way to overcome this ? I suspect that the built in browser's code page settings are set to a different character set than the presets of the other external devices so if it something easy I can adjust this (I don't have much linux knowledge but I think I can manage it) and proceed to the purchase of the screen.
Thank you in advance
Nik

Try edit /root/.config/midori/config

change
default-encoding=ISO-8859-1
to
default-encoding=UTF-8

This is the beta 4 config it is preset to UTF-8
is there any mistake?

[settings]
default-encoding==UTF-8
enforce-96-dpi=true
enable-developer-extras=true
enable-site-specific-quirks=true
enable-javascript=true
default-charset=ISO-8859-1
last-window-width=800
last-window-height=480
last-panel-position=523
last-panel-page=5
location-entry-search=
toolbar-items=Back,Forward,ReloadStop,Location,Search,
find-while-typing=true
zoom-level=0.7
middle-click-opens-selection=false
homepage=http://localhost
tabhome=http://localhost
download-folder=/home/army
http-proxy=127.0.0.1:8118
maximum-cache-size=50
maximum-history-age=0
load-on-startup=MIDORI_STARTUP_HOMEPAGE
proxy-type=MIDORI_PROXY_NONE
user-agent=Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux) AppleWebKit/538.15 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/18.0.1025.133 Safari/538.15 Midori/0.5
user-stylesheet-uri=file:///root/.local/share/midori/styles/local-styles.css

[extensions]
libaddons.so=true

I can see that there are two == instead of one next to UTF-8 is there a difference?

I changed the default-charset to UTF-8 and deleted the extra = on the first line, rebooted but nothing changed, no cyrillic characters.
