kernel panic

Postby waves » 02 Jun 2015, 13:06

Today my runeaudio web interface didn't respond on the LAN. I powered the raspi off and on. Still nothing. When I connect a HDMI screen there is an error message about kernel panic. Can someone explain what the error message is saying? Is it likely an easy fix or am I better off reformatting the microsd card and reinstalling Rune (and redoing various customizations)?

Hi waves,
according at the attached screenshot, seems that your SDcard is corrupted. Look at the "no journal found".
If your settings or customizations are quite standard I think you should consider to reflash the SDcard or try to flash a new one.
You could try to check the FS integrity using fsck, but you need a working system to do this task.

Thanks for the feedback. In the end I choose to reformat and reinstall. I had good notes or had made forumposts for all the modifications so it is all good again. :)

Hi, first of all Runeaudio is a great project!

First install went fine, then power got disrupted. Since then the booting does not complete, it hangs with the panic message.

VFS Unable to mount root fs on unknown block (179,2)

I have changed the cmdline.txt to let it check 6 instead of 2, this did not fix it. I have used SD formatter several times with a fresh Pi2 image 0.3beta, but still it remains stuck in the boot sequence. Also I have tried using fsck and both partitions on the drive were fine.

Any idea how to solve this? Can it be the microSD card being that corrupt it can not be fixed by formatting anymore? (it is a brand new Transcend 16GB class 10).

Thanks!

Edit1: I just SD formatted with Format Size Adjustment ON and I got further. But now I get quite some read write errors as per picture attached. Any suggestions?

Edit2| out of desperation I checked Volumio, which did not work first time, but after I have had my microSD in my Win7 machine it worked somehow. But I want to use Runeaudio.... Why does the SD card remain corrupt even after SDFormatter and using fsck in Linux? Is the SD card broken?

Is my card corrupt (hardware corrupt?) Or is there anything else I can do to have RuneAudio running?

It must have been the microSD card, I just used an old Sandisk and it runs smoothly.
