LCD and case for compact audio player

Postby Jampa » 01 Dec 2015, 09:06

Hi
im new here and new and completely illiterate raspberry.

you have trouble for suggestions for an LCD to apply to raspberry, perhaps with another simple case to keep everything compact.

for now I own:
- 1 raspberry pi 2 B
- 1 simply open trasparent case
- 1 iqaudio dac plus (arriving)
- 1 runeaudio v 03 beta

not to use your smartphone or tablet wanted to buy a screen LCD touchscreen apply to raspberry. I'm interested in this conformation because at the beginning I want to use it only as a player (with fanless HD) to be connected to my hifi. After I can also experiment with wifi, nas, web radio, spotify etc etc
I saw around that good "craftsmen" using old lcd screens (like Nokia 3320) and welded to a board and then apply it over raspberry ........ but I'm not good. You can suggest me where to buy a screen of at least 2.8 already simply assembled? and perhaps as a "stick it" to the case (even more case to buy) to create a compact player?

thanks in advance and sorry for my bad english.

I don't know of any such "ready-made" cases which would incorporate everything you stated...

Perhaps you could use an existing case and modify it to your requirements? - if you have some simple hand tools and a lot of patience, it shouldn't be much of a problem.

I'm making my own cases (for sale as complete audio solutions), perhaps that could give you a few ideas :) - see my commercial web site here:

Yours doesn't have to be that complicated (my round cases are aluminium, and need a lot of (expensive) machining..).

Perhaps you could repurpose an existing smaller computer case or something.... and place the LCD in front...
In the gallery linked above there's also a simpler "box" (case) with the 20x4 LCD in the front - this should not be very difficult to hack/repurpose from some aluminium enclosure you already have....
