I'm sorry to hear about your problems, and yes, I do agree that this topic is full of different versions and not a single one works out-of-the-box. I'm currently very busy, so when I get some free time, I should do a final version, test it on different Raspberry Pi's and put a detailed tutorial, even better as a video + text.

Anyone with this working on a RPi B able to share their image please?

I can't seem to get past errors when installing GPIO. I have to use 0.6.2 and then the python file starts giving errors. Thanks.

Upd.
Looks like unit file is up and running. I've used

sudo systemctl start ra-i2c-lcd.service
sudo reboot

and enabled it again.

I have spent time to read pages but it seems I lost the direction. Could you help to brief me key steps to go thru @hondagx35 or @XploD :) ... as well which LCD should I pick? 1602, 1604 or 2004? Your advice is highly appreciated ! Thank you so much !

Hi Frank!
Thanks for advice! "After=mpd.service" is good idea! It will save a time if i will use local medialibrary. Also you got the point with "sleep" . Looks logically for me. To be honest, i'm new to Pythone and *NIX skills also to o low. The last time i've coded on SQL when i was an IT analyst and this is completely different story.
I've used a 'start' operator just to be sure that unit file is ok, but before i've chaged the timeout value and it has started. It took about 20 seconds to activate. I stopped it, and used 'enable' - now it works. I've reboot it - no problem with startup.
Upd.
Modyfied unit file just a couple minutes ago - it works great.
Now i'll try to find out how to put my berry in bed after particular time when playback has stopped.
Thanks again!

greetings everyone, new to the forums (been lurking and reading and playing and testing and lurking and testing and lurking and testing) made an intro post last week with some questions but decided to delete it and do more research on my own first.

waiting on a 20x4 OLED screen that should be here this week - wanted to ask a question.

setup:
raspberry pi 3
pifi dac+
rune audio .3-beta (newest version posted on website)

and looking to do the 20x4 screen with a few tacticle buttons for simple controls as detailed in these posts....

what steps are now not necessary (as I understand the latest versions have python2 already on there) to the original post on here? I played around trying to get the code to work with the .96" OLED display I have just for something to do while waiting on the 20x4 but was unable to get anything to display (at least via runeaudio - had fun playing around with it via raspian)

I guess - when this arrives is there anything I should omit from first post or that might be out of date? reading through and learning all this can be a bit overwhelming at times but good at following directions and a good background with computers/comfortable/confident getting things done!

one thing I failed miserably at was getting my lil 3.5" tinyLCD display to work - could get the driver to initialize and backlight to come on (black screen) or a half black half jumbled white screen - but could not get it to work with runeaudio - worked fine in via running startx but upon reboot back to half jarble.

thanks to all the folks here - seeing some of the stuff everyone has worked together to accomplish is cool!
