Local browser with kbd, mouse

Postby PeteB » 29 May 2016, 16:57

I enabled the cursor in /root/.xinitrc to use the local browser with a conventional HDMI monitor, kbd (tabs and cursor keys) and mouse (cursor, mouse buttons).

This seems to work but only partly. In other words, navigating the screens and clicking on different fields works but not in all cases. Using tabs in a screen does not always advance to the next expected place.

I am guessing this is because the local browser is configured for the touch screen by default.

Is there something besides the mouse cursor that needs to be enabled/disabled to use the local browser this way, or does it currently only work with the official Pi touch screen?

edit:

Solved, mostly, except for the tab key not working as I expected.

Hi Frank,

I found some of the answers searching through your other posts, thanks.

I was wondering if I missed an option or selection somewhere to switch between a touch screen and a conventional HDMI monitor/TV.

I enabled the cursor, and I reset the Zoom to 1. Then I started getting the multimedia keys and the remote programmed in xbindkeys (this is my second player with an isolated DIGI+ interface, not the one where I added IR sensor and soft-off switch to the DAC+). I am sure I will figure it out next weekend.

You are correct, tabs seem to be set up the same in the local and remote browser, but Midori either does not show where the focus is, or there is something strange about where the focus goes when you click <tab>. I will look into that when/if I get the rest sorted.
