Lost Pi on Network

Postby foxint » 19 Feb 2018, 08:49

Hi Guys

Please hope you can help. You guys have been great in the past.

I have been trying to get stable internet since Friday and changed some settings. Then the Pi did not work. It is running Rune with the P12 Media 502 DAC

I changed something (I think it was the location of something to 192.168.20.1)…now I cannot see the pi. I cannot see 192.168.20.1

Is there a way to help? Is there a re-set button?

Yes, I am not really good at this. So, any help would be great.

Thank you.

Hi foxint,

Not enough information to know what to suggest. What settings exactly did you change and where? Was it on your router or in Rune's config files? Are you on ethernet or wireless? If you don't know what you did then nobody else can! :D

You can re-set the whole installation by re-flashing the SD card and starting again. You should be able to re-set wireless settings by plugging in an ethernet cable and accessing Rune's UI from a web browser.

More info needed though if you want to try and fix it without reflashing....

Sir – Thank you.

I get this error when I try and log on:

“Your computer appears to be correctly configured, but the device or resource is not responding"

I am using Cat-6. I am scared to use wire-less.

I went into rune and changed something about the location of something…Since I cannot get into it I cannot remember.

If I could log on I could perhaps remember.

But it times out and says as above.

I would rather not re-flash, it was a total nightmare. Plus I am not sure what software or if the old LapTop I used is still working.

I can (I think) get into it with Putty. I put in 192.168.1.31 and a small black screen comes up….but I have no idea what this means or if this is good or bad. Last time I made a stupid suggestion like that, it was not good from the responses.

????

PS… I also plugged in my other Pi with HiFiBerry – that I have not touched for a year and it also does not want to connect. I guessed the IP address…anyway of finding the Pi Ip Address??? Perhaps this is a clue?

Hi,

So you're attempting to access the web UI from a web browser, but getting the message you quoted? Are you are able to access other websites from the same computer?

If you can access the internet and the Pi is on the network you should be able to see it and it's IP address in your router settings.

If you're on Windows, open a command prompt and type 'ipconfig' (without quotes). This will tell you info about your computer's connection. Look for the 'Default Gateway' address. If you type this address into a web browser it should take you to your router's settings. (NB: this doesn't always work, but it's a good place to start).

From your router settings you'll have to find 'Devices' or similar, where you can see all the devices connected to the router. If your Pi is connected then it's IP address will be listed.

Personally, I'd reset whatever controls your LAN or login to it to see the DHCP table and see if your Pi has been assigned an IP address.

You can then work from there.

Sirs – Thank you.

I have re-set all the things I can. Now getting things working BUT not the Pi

Yes Windows10. I have the following unknow devices

192.168.1.15 – asks for a Username and Password – that I do not know
192.168.1.9 - Cannot be reached
192.168.1.2 - Cannot be reached
192.168.1.7 - Cannot be reached

All the others are accounted for. I suppose the Pi is 192.168.1.15…or one of the others. But???

Any suggestions??
