Lost Spotify

Postby Moggy » 23 Oct 2016, 17:44

I've been happily running Rune on a Pi 2 for around a month. Yesterday it stopped streaming Spotify mid-track! Spotify still works on other devices, but selection button on the settings menu is greyed-out on Rune. Restarted Pi and reinstalled Rune app on my phone, but didn't help. Any suggestions?
Cheers
PS I am a complete numpty with computers, so any instructions would need to be extremely basic!

Any chance you changed your Spotify password or let your Premium subscription run out?

No, it doesn't work for any of the members on my family account (which is a premium account). Also the fact it cut out mid track whilst logged in rules out a password problem.

Hi Moggy,

maybe someone in your family has deleted the playlists.
Turn on debug on the dev page and check the logs for errors.

The logs are available in /var/log/mpd....

Hi Frank
Playlists are still there for every user. Also, Spotify cut out in the middle of use when no-one was actually interacting with the software. I don't understand how a lack of playlists would grey-out the Spotify selection button, surely it would just mean there was nothing to play.

As I said in my first post, I need more detailed instructions for de-bugging if it involves interacting with the software on a programming level.
Thanks
Moggy

This happened to me tonight briefly, but not permanently.

Entries in spopd.log seemed to indicate a DNS lookup error on the host that spopd was trying to communicate with.

I'll continue to monitor.

Well, Spotify spontaneously re-appeared a week later, after several people had failed to connect in! No idea what caused this. I'll keep an eye (ear?) on it to see if it happens again. If so, I'll probably have a go with musicbox as an alternative.
