Noob Seeing Rainbows

Postby thisisjay » 10 Aug 2016, 01:15

Just got a raspberry pi 2b+. Able to boot Volumio, but had no luck getting IP access so I decided to try Rune.

Downloaded the latest version and used Win32 Disk Imager and Etcher to create the SD card. Also tried 2 different cards.

No dice. Rainbow screen of death in every case. Nothing plugged in except the HDMI cable and power.

Hi thisisjay,

welcome to RuneAudio.

You have used image?
You unzipped (decompressed) the downloaded file before burning?

The file to burn is "RuneAudio_rpi2_rp3_0.4-beta_20160321_2GB.img".

That is the exact image I used . I used several different micro SD cards and several different programs to "burn" the image. I even upgraded to a 2.4A power supply. Nothing but big rainbow screen no matter what. Other audio players booting. I just don't get it.

.......so the solution was the get a RP3. I still don't understand why the same image refused to boot on the 2B+, but I guess it was for the best since the 3 is superior in every way.

First check which model of PI you are using. model B+ is in PI 1 while for PI 2 model B is there.

I am using runeaudio in PI 2 model B and it is working fine
