Raspberry pi 2 and hires files

Postby DonGui » 03 May 2015, 13:50

Hi all,

I've only seen a couple of posts speaking about pi 2 and hires files handling (like 192/24). The posts were pretty positive, but I wondered if we could get a more detailed confirmation that pi 2 is ok with hires files, unlike pi 1. Anyone willing to share some input ?

I reply to confirm that Pi 2 work really good with hires files.
All 24/96 24/192 and dsd64 playing really good without stutter. It work much better than pi b+.

Hi, I'm new here, and made a profile based on this post.
An RPi 2 and a HifiBerry sonud like a really cheap way to get hires audio on my old stereo system. But is there a case, that can hold both the Pi and the HifiBerry in one?

The idea is to hook i up with my old trusty Denon PMA-1315r with a set of Dali Suite 2.8 speakers.

EDIT: And by the way, does a RPi 2 with the HifiBerry DAC+ need a 2 Amp PSU or is a 1 Amp enough?

When using files from a USB stick up to 24/192 Pi2 was fine.

Today I put a NAS together and over WiFI, WiPi dongle, anything larger than 16/44 stutters. Substituting an ethernet cable Pi 2 is happy again.

Are there any settings for WiFi I can alter to improve performance? I have trailed an ethernet cable across the room to test but it isn't really practicable

I have tried doubling RSIZE and WSIZE, slightly better but not eliminated

Pi2 plays 352.8kHz DSF files without any problem, through Wired LAN, from SMB share.
