Raspberry Pi 2 + Rune v0.3 ::: Volume level

Postby dunghnguyen » 22 Mar 2016, 16:14

Although I have just used Rune for more than a week but I recognize that its volume level when playing music is quite low. It is low for both HDMI and headphones outs. This is true when I tested the case of OpenELEC to compare. I hope our Rune development team will take attention on this for the next release.

I ordered a DAC+ that I am waiting for the Hifiberry to deliver. Hope its volume level out is enough to feed for my amp Denon PMA-720AE rather I had to turn the volume knob much as the case shared above.

Do you have the software volume control enabled?

HDMI should output should sound the same across software unless there is some sort of volume control in place. The DAC decoding the 1s and 0s sent over HDMI is what will determine the volume level.

@silvrr: I disabled the volume control that hope the signal is transported entirely.

I suppose it is of the decoding issue of Rune !

Did you tried to adjust the sound level by typing alsamixer in a ssh connection?

Congratulation!
I was looking yesterday for a thread where the way on how to do it is further described, but I failed. Then I did send you the very raw advice on how to do it. So you had more luck in finding one of the related threads.

@utschu: as long as getting advice some from others who know then I could search, it is my "left-hand" kool ;)

And this is my audio troop..be quite simple but it makes really clear and detailed sounds since powered by battery without any negative impacts.
