just found time to take a look at this problem..
the SD card is dead. doesn't show up in fdisk on linux and windows doesn't even see it.
= RPi B
= IQaudIO DAC
= powered from a USB hub
= SDHC card, 8 gb, class 10, Microcenter brand (same as all my other SD/uSD cards, which are still working and have a greater uptime than any instance of Rune
= Rune - latest version as of a couple weeks ago.
