I got my new Pi today and the behavior is exactly the same. On the stock image of Rune the network works less than it doesn't. I'm seeing the weird MAC address with the new hardware as well. I also noticed with both Pis that when I first turn them on there's about a minute where my entire network is dead, wireless and wired.
I don't see any of these issues with the Jessie Lite image from Adafruit. At this time I have no choice but to move on to something different. Rune just doesn't work as reliably as I need it to.
